About France Life Guide

Living in France is not hard — understanding the systems is.

France Life Guide was created to explain how life in France actually works, in clear, practical English.

Not the theory.
Not official jargon.
Not copy-and-paste from government websites.

Just explanations that help you make sense of French administration, healthcare, family systems, work, and everyday life — especially when French isn’t your first language.

Why this site exists

I’ve lived within the French system for years.

I’ve done my schooling in France, built a family here, dealt with healthcare, taxes, housing, schools, CAF, employment, separation, and major life changes — all inside French administrative systems.

Like many people, I learned most of this the hard way:

  • by filling out forms that made no sense,
  • by being sent from office to office,
  • by discovering after the fact how things really worked.

France Life Guide exists because too much essential information is:

  • fragmented,
  • unclear,
  • or written for people who already understand the system.

This site is here to close that gap.

Who this site is for

France Life Guide is for:

  • people new to France,
  • long-term residents who still feel unsure,
  • families navigating schools, benefits, or healthcare,
  • anyone who wants straightforward explanations without pressure or judgement.

You don’t need to be an expert.
You don’t need perfect French.
You don’t need to “already know”.

How the guides are written

Every guide on this site is written to be:

  • practical,
  • calm,
  • and grounded in real experience.

The goal is not to overwhelm you, but to help you understand:

  • what matters,
  • what connects to what,
  • and what to do next.

No ads.
No sales funnels.
No unnecessary complexity.

A quiet guide, not an authority

France Life Guide doesn’t replace official advice — and it doesn’t pretend to.

It exists to help you understand the landscape, so you can:

  • ask better questions,
  • make informed decisions,
  • and move forward with more confidence.
